How to Download and Install AI Phone
AI Phone is available on both iOS and Android.
- iOS: Go to the App Store app. Tap the download button to start downloading and installing.
- Android: Visit the Google Play Store. Tap the “Install” button to start downloading and installing.
How to Use Phone Call Translation
One of the core features of AI Phone is real-time phone call translation, allowing you to translate your voice in real time during phone calls.
To use the phone call translation feature, you need to configure your caller ID first. You can either link your own number or get a second number via AI Phone, depending on how you want to make calls.
- Use your own phone number (requires linking your number)
- Use a Second Number provided by AI Phone
Both options support two-way voice translation and bilingual captions during the call. If you want to make translated calls using your existing phone number, you need to link it in the app. With this option, you can translate outgoing calls, but incoming calls cannot be translated. AI Phone also provides a second phone number, which allows translation for both outgoing and incoming calls.
Most users start by linking their own phone number to enable real-time phone call translation. Setup is quick and secure through SMS verification. If privacy is a priority, AI Phone also offers a second U.S. phone number with enhanced features like voicemail, call forwarding, and business hour settings.
Step 1: Link Your Phone Number (Optional)
Only needed if you want to use your own phone number for translated calls.
- Open the app and tap Me at the bottom.
- Tap your profile avatar.
- Tap Your Phone Number.
- Enter your phone number.
- Verify with the SMS code.
If you do not want to use your own number, you can skip these steps and proceed to Step 2.
Step 2: Start a Translated Call
- Return to the main screen.
- Tap Call at the bottom.
- Tap the ☎️ Dial & Translate Instantly button in the bottom-right corner.
- Dial the phone number you want to call or select a number from your contacts.
- Then click the Call button at the bottom.
- The language and voice settings screen will appear:
- Your language (Me): select your language and translation voice; choose whether to mute your original voice.
- Recipient’s language (Other): select their language and translation voice; choose whether to mute their original voice or play their translation voice.
- Select the caller ID you want to call with.
- Tap Call Now to start your translated phone call.
Step 3: How to Manage Your Second Phone Number
When you subscribe to AI Phone, you automatically receive a second phone number. This number can be changed once per month for free.
You can configure advanced features such as:
- Call forwarding
- Voicemail
- Business hours settings
- Text message signature
- Do Not Disturb
- AI Auto-Reply to Texts (AI Assistant automatically responds to incoming texts)
Steps to manage your second number
- Tap Me at the bottom of the app.
- Tap Manage My Numbers.
- Tap your second number to enter the Phone Number Settings screen.
- To change the number, tap the green bidirectional arrow next to your phone number.
From here, you can also adjust all the above features to fit your preferences.
Tips for Using Phone Call Translation
- Speak naturally at a normal pace for best translation accuracy.
- Use type-to-speak for names, numbers, or addresses to avoid miscommunication.
- If using the second number, you can translate both incoming and outgoing calls.
- Manage your second number settings to optimize workflow and privacy.
How to Use Video Call Translation
AI Phone Translator allows you to translate voice and video calls in real time across 20+ popular messaging apps like WhatsApp, WeChat, LINE, and Telegram.
Take WhatsApp as example:
- Open the app and tap Call at the bottom.
- Tap the Video Call icon.
- Select the app you want to use for the call: WhatsApp, WeChat or Other Apps.
- After selecting the app, you will enter the language settings screen.
- Set your language and the other person’s language.
- Choose the call type: Video Call or Voice Call.
- Tap Call Now.
- AI Phone will generate a unique call link.
- Share this link with the person you want to talk to.
- Once the other person opens the link, the call starts automatically.
Note: The other person does not need to install AI Phone. Bilingual subtitles will appear in real time on both sides of the call, allowing smooth communication.
How to Use Face-to-Face Translation
AI Phone Translator allows you to translate in-person conversations in real time. This feature has two modes:
- Listening Mode – ideal for lectures, classes, seminars, or presentations.
- Talk Mode – ideal for live, two-way face-to-face conversations.
Mode 1: Listening Mode
Best for listening-focused scenarios (e.g., lectures, seminars, presentations). No two-way conversation.
- Tap Face-to-Face at the bottom of the app.
- You will automatically enter the Listening Mode interface.
- Select your language.
- Optionally, you can disable Translation Reading to only see subtitles on screen.
Once set, AI Phone will transcribe and translate the audio you listen to in real time.
Mode 2: Talk Mode
Best for two-way in-person conversations.
- Tap Talk at the bottom to switch to Free Talk Mode.
- Select the languages for both participants to start the conversation.
- When one person speaks, press the button at the bottom to talk.
- Tap the Split Screen button at the top to switch to Split Screen view, showing both participants’ translations side by side.
This mode allows both users to speak naturally while AI Phone translates in real time.
Tips for Best Results
- Speak clearly at a natural pace.
- Use Talk Mode for interactive conversation; use Listening Mode for lectures or presentations.
- Split Screen is useful for quick visual reference of both translations.
- Ensure your device microphone has clear access to ambient sound.
How to Use Photo and Camera Translation
AI Phone Translator allows you to translate text from photos or live camera capture in real time. This is useful for menus, signs, documents, packaging, slides, and more.
- Tap “Face-to-Face”
- Tap the camera button on the right side to enter the image translation interface.
- At the bottom of the screen, select the source language (the language in the image) and the target language (the language you want the text translated into).
- Tap “Photos” to upload an image or use your camera to capture new content. The text will be automatically detected and translated.
Tips for Best Results
- Ensure the text is well-lit and clear for accurate OCR detection.
- Documents, menus, or slides should be aligned and not blurry.
- You can combine this feature with Screen Translation for apps or webpages that cannot be photographed directly.

- Tap “Face-to-Face”
- Tap the T button on the left.
- Enter or paste the text to translate.
How to Use Video/Audio Translation
This feature translates audio from videos, podcasts, and live streams in real time.
- Open the Explore tab.
- Tap Instant Audio/Stream Translation.
- Select your source and target languages.
- Tap the Start button.
- Minimize the app and play the audio or video you want to translate.
- The app will automatically detect the audio and translate it in real time to your selected language.
How to Use Screen Translation
Instantly translate anything on your screen, like websites, IM chats, and games.
- Open the Explore tab and tap Screen Translation.
- Click Install “AI Phone Screen Translation” Shortcut.
- Configure the trigger in your phone:
- Go to Settings → Accessibility → Touch → Back Tap
- Select Double Tap → AI Phone Screen Translation
- Once set up, simply double-tap the back of your phone to translate your screen anytime.
FAQs
Can AI Phone recognize multiple languages in the same conversation?
Yes. AI Phone can detect mixed-language speech and translate accordingly. For example, if someone switches between English and Spanish mid-sentence, AI Phone will recognize and translate both languages accurately.
Do I need to link my phone number to use AI Phone?
Only for phone call translation using your own number. Other features such as video call translation, Face-to-Face translation, camera/photo translation, screen translation, and audio/video translation do not require linking your phone number. You can also use the app’s second number for full call translation without linking your own number.
How accurate is the translation for slang or informal phrases?
AI Phone’s AI engine is trained on real-life conversations and supports slang, idioms, and regional expressions. While most casual speech is translated accurately, extremely rare slang or highly contextual jokes may be approximated.
Does AI Phone work offline?
No. All AI Phone features require an active internet connection.
Can I customize the voice used for translation?
Yes. AI Phone allows you to customize the translation voice in both Phone Call Translation and Face-to-Face Translation. You can choose different AI-generated voices for yourself or the other person. In Face-to-Face Translation, you can even use your own voice as the translation voice instead of an AI-generated voice. You can also adjust whether to mute your original voice and whether to play the other person’s translated voice for better clarity or privacy. This gives you full control over how translations are heard during conversations.
Can multiple people join a translated video call?
No. Currently, AI Phone video call translation only supports one-on-one calls. Group calls or conference calls are not supported at this time.
How are translations stored?
All stored translations and summaries are securely saved for easy review, sharing, or reference. AI Phone lets you review past translations through the app:
- Phone calls and call summaries can be accessed in the Call tab → Transcripts.
- Face-to-Face translations, including voice translations, conversation translations, text translations, and video/audio translations, can be viewed in Face-to-Face → Translation History.
Does AI Phone work offline?
Most AI Phone features require an internet connection, especially real-time services such as:
- Phone call translation
- Video call translation
- Face-to-face voice translation
- Screen translation
- Audio and video translation
However, offline translation is available for some features:
- Offline Text Translation
- Offline Camera & Photo Translation
